MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
OF THE COLLEGE REPUBLICAN FEDERATION
OF VIRGINIA AND ORGANIZATION DELEGATES
December 05, 2009
Issued December 10, 2009

During the annual College Republican Federation of Virginia Convention, Lena Morrill, the former chairperson at Sweet Briar College, was elected as the new chair along with other executive board members.  Willie Deutsch, from Patrick Henry College, was selected as First Vice Chair. Jadan Horyn, from Liberty University, became Second Vice Chair, after previously serving as Treasurer under former CRFV chair Kate Maxwell. Andrew Elgert, from James Madison University, is now Treasurer. Finally, John Michael King, from the College of William & Mary was elected as Secretary. "We are very excited to have a board that is from across the state, willing to work together to build the CRFV and our state party. CRs were a major part of the 2009 successes in Virginia and we look forward to having a very successful 2010 midterm election season," Morrill commented.

Over 75 people attended the convention with about 35 of those as Delegates. The positions of 1st and 2nd Vice chairmen were contested and decided by written vote. The positions of Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary were confirmed by a vote of affirmation. The afternoon was full of lively discussion and served as an opportunity for members of the College Republican Federation of Virginia to meet people across the Commonwealth. Before the vote took place, current Republican Party of Virginia Chairman, Pat Mullins, shared a few words with the attendees. He reminded them how important that the CRs were in the 2009 elections.

The new Executive Board is currently busy preparing for the new year. We are getting new chapters in place and holding appointments for individuals that will have crucial roles in this administration and opening new lines of communication between the CRs and people across the Commonwealth.
